The terror attack on tourists in Kashmir’s Pahalgam has left the entire nation shocked. The attack, which claimed twenty-six civilian lives, has been condemned by world leaders as well. Indian celebrities have also taken to social media to share their shock and anger. Actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas penned a note, calling out the heinous attack.
Taking to Instagram, the actress wrote, “What happened in Pahalgam is reprehensible. People were there on vacations, honeymoons, celebrating with their families. Just taking in the beauty of Kashmir. So many innocent lives were caught in a storm they never asked for. Targeted, right in front of their loved ones.”
Her note continued, “This is not a tragedy we can move past from. This heinous attack should shake the conscience of humanity. This will haunt us for a long time. To those grieving, displaced, mourning and living in fear, my thoughts and prayers are with you. I’m so deeply anguished by this.”
Besides Priyanka, a lot of celebrities have condemned the terror attack on civilians. Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Akshay Kumar, Janhvi Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Karan Johar, Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Anushka Sharma, Rashmika Mandanna, Anupam Kher, Allu Arjun, Jr NTR, Ram Charan and many others were shaken by the horrific incident.
Terrorists opened fire on tourists at around 2:30 pm on Tuesday, in one of the deadliest terror attacks in the Jammu and Kashmir region in recent times. Assailants descend from nearby hills and unleash gunfire on unsuspecting civilians at one of Kashmir’s most visited tourist destinations. The casualties also included two foreign nationals and two local residents.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi cut short his visit to Saudi Arabia and returned to India, while Home Minister Amit Shah flew to Jammu and Kashmir to personally oversee the situation.
