The Rajasthan Royals (RR) faced off against the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur in a crucial match where RR needed to chase down a commanding target of 210 runs to stay in contention for the playoffs.
RR openers, Yashasvi Jaiswal and 14-year-old sensation , gave the hosts a fiery start. Suryavanshi, the youngest player in Indian Premier League (IPL) history, carved his name in the records by smashing a half-century in just 17 balls, which is the fastest in IPL 2025. The young left-hander went on to score the second-fastest century in the IPL history by reaching the landmark in just 35 balls, where his stunning knock included 11 sixes and seven fours.

Suryavanshi announced his arrival in grand style by opening his account with a six off Mohammed Siraj on the third ball of the innings. In the fourth over, the veteran Ishant Sharma got punishment from the youngster, getting hammered for 28 runs with three sixes and two fours. The Bihar-born cricketer smashed two sixes and a four off Washington Sundar in the fifth over, which brought up his record-breaking fifty.
Suryavanshi not only became the youngest-ever player to score a half-century in IPL history but also recorded the fastest fifty against Gujarat Titans and the second-fastest fifty for Rajasthan Royals. By the end of the powerplay, the two left-handers had scored RR to 87 runs.
Suryavanshi continued his dominance, where he became the youngest player to score a century in IPL history. In an over bowled by Karim Janat, he smashed 30 runs, which included three sixes and three fours. He reached his century by launching a six off , which prompted emotional scenes at the stadium. The RR head coach Rahul Dravid rose from his wheelchair in celebration and the entire ground gave the youngster a standing ovation as he removed his helmet to celebrate the historic moment.
However, his spectacular innings came to an end when the Southpaw was out bowled by Prasidh Krishna for a stunning 101 runs. Out of all the runs he scored, a whopping 94 came in boundaries, maintaining a boundary percentage of around 93.
Earlier, GT posted a formidable total of 209 runs in their 20 overs. Skipper Shubman Gill led the way with 84 off 50 balls. He was well-supported by English batter Jos Buttler, who played a quick innings of 50 off 26 balls, reaching his half-century on the final ball of the innings. For RR, Maheesh Theekshana was the pick of the bowlers by finishing with figures of 2 for 35 in his four-over spell.
