Be it functionality or ruggedness, no smartwatch can match the appeal of a G-Shock. Casio recently unveiled the G-Shock GM-110BB-1ADR sports wristwatch, which takes the best of Casio G-Shock and packs it into a stylish form factor with an emphasis on durability.
I have been testing it as my primary timekeeper for over two weeks, and here are my thoughts on Casio’s latest G-Shock in India.
You can identify this sports watch from a distance, thanks to its iconic shape and form factor. Unlike some entry-level G-Shock models, the GM-110BB-1ADR offers a more premium build. The watch is made of stainless steel, giving it a substantially premium feel—albeit a bit heavy, which is characteristic of a well-built watch.
It is both shock-resistant and water-resistant up to 200 m, so you can wear it during your next swim session without worrying about water damage.
This medium-sized watch has a casual aesthetic, particularly in its black variant, making it suitable for both casual and formal attire. While I am not a huge fan of the stock resin strap, it is comfortable and can be replaced with any standard 22mm strap.
The watch is designed so that the external metal casing naturally protects the mineral glass, which itself is scratch-resistant. Additionally, the stainless steel body holds up well against accidental drops.
While digital watches can be a bit boring and analogue watches are often limited in functionality, the G-Shock GM-110BB-1ADR combines the best of both worlds. However, the negative display on the watch can be difficult to read in low-light situations, even when using the Super Illuminator LED light. This is where the analogue component shines—literally—thanks to its glow-in-the-dark Neobrite minute and hour hands.
The watch also features an analogue and digital stopwatch, an alarm, and a timer, along with a world timer that supports 31 time zones, accurate to ±15 seconds per month. If this is your first G-Shock with a world timer, it may take some time to get used to it. However, if you’re already part of the G-Shock community, navigating between different functions is as simple as turning the page of a novel.
The Casio G-Shock GM-110BB-1ADR comes with a two-year standard warranty and can last up to three years before needing a battery replacement. Like most Casio G-Shocks, this sports watch is built to last, allowing you to use it for years without any worries.
Priced at Rs 18,995, the Casio G-Shock GM-110BB-1ADR is a stylish and practical sports watch that looks great while offering useful functionality. Aimed at college students and young professionals, this watch is an excellent choice for anyone looking for an analogue timepiece with digital features.
