has been quite open about her pregnancy journey and raising her twins with actor in the mountains of Himachal Pradesh. Not long ago, she spoke about being active during her pregnancy, and then immediately, 10 days after giving birth to her daughters in November 2023. “Where there is a will, there is a way. On the 10th day of my C-section, I stepped out and I worked. My gynaecologist said ‘Rubina, you won’t stay home from the 10th-11th day onward. You will step out, you will do what you like, and you will achieve your goals. That was my gynaecologist. I was shooting till 6 pm on the last day of my pregnancy, after which I went for my c-section at 8 pm. In the morning, I delivered my twins,” recalled the 37-year-old.
Acknowledging that motherhood “changes you and makes you even more beautiful,” the actor said: “This is what people have told me. However, I am 7-8 kgs more than what I used to be in my normal weight. But what I have heard from friends and people around is that after becoming a mother, there is a or change in your face that comes, and I humbly accept that. I am very happy and okay with that fact. There are body changes, there are hormonal changes, and there are mood changes. Your life changes 360 degrees. I am proof of that. I have seen how my priorities in life have completely changed.”
Adding that the twins are “a blessing from God,” she told Paras Chhabra on his YouTube podcast: “We look up to them as devis, as Lakshmi ji, and care for them, nourish them. They are truly a blessing.”
Dr Chanchal Mohanty, physiotherapist and lactation consultant, Motherhood Hospitals, Kharghar, said that training before and regularly during pregnancy helps contribute to an active pregnancy journey and faster recovery postpartum.
“Provided exercises are safe and personalised to the woman’s health and status of pregnancy, an active lifestyle incorporating moderate, pregnancy-safe workouts like walking, swimming, and prenatal yoga helps them build strength, flexibility, and improve cardiovascular health. This, in turn, helps in postpartum recovery,” said Dr Mohanty.
Moreover, staying active during pregnancy also reduces the risk of excessive weight gain, improves circulation, and helps to enhance mental well-being. “After childbirth, women who exercise during pregnancy often experience quicker recovery and can regain , improve energy levels, and manage post-birth weight. Exercising daily can help to deal with postpartum mental health issues like depression and improve overall well-being,” said Dr Mohanty.
She emphasised that one needs to consult with an before starting or continuing any exercise regimen during pregnancy. “It is imperative to avoid doing any strenuous activities without the doctor’s knowledge,” said Dr Mohanty.
