Devdutt Padikkal and Virat Kohli teamed up to run four runs during the ongoing clash between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Mullanpur Cricket Stadium on Sunday, April 20. Interestingly, this was the Padikkal’s second instance of attaining this rarity in the IPL.
An Arshdeep Singh delivery was flicked by the left-handed batter towards a vacant deep midwicket area. The fielder in the outfield had just been moved towards deep square leg, and hence had a lot of area to cover to get to the ball. The fielder did end up preventing the ball from hitting the boundary cushion, but the batters in the middle were successful in getting back for four runs by the time the throw was fired in.

Padikkal, who came in as RCB’s Impact Player, struck a stellar 34-ball 61. The majestic innings comprised five fours and four sixes. His time in the middle came to an end on the third delivery of the 13th over as he was sent back by PBKS’ Impact Player, Harpreet Brar.
Earlier in the evening, RCB were successful in containing the hosts to 157/6 at the end of their 20 overs. Spinners Krunal Pandya and Suyash Sharma starred with the ball as the two snapped a couple of wickets each, while conceding only 25 and 26 runs, respectively. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was quite miserly during his four-over spell as the seasoned campaigner conceded only 26 runs.

Prabhsimran Singh top-scored with 33 (17) while Josh Inglis played the same number of deliveries and scored 29. Skipper Shreyas Iyer had a disappointing outing, scoring only six off 10 balls. Shashank Singh (31* off 33) and Marco Jansen (25* off 20) remained unbeaten at the end.
