Mumbai Indians registered a comfortable four-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 33 of IPL 2025 at the Wankhede Stadium. MI’s clinical performance with both bat and ball ensured they collected two crucial points, as they now sit in the seventh spot with six points.
Opting to bowl first on a slow surface, MI’s bowlers executed their plans perfectly. Will Jacks (2/14) and Jasprit Bumrah (1/21) kept the SRH batters on backfoot, with the English all-rounder dismissing both Travis Head and Ishan Kishan. Though Abhishek Sharma (40 off 28) gave SRH a decent start, the middle overs were not ideal for the visiting team. Heinrich Klaasen (37 off 28) and Aniket Verma’s late cameos helped SRH finish on 162/5, with the total always looking below par.
In reply, MI started strongly, thanks to Rohit Sharma (26 off 16) and Ryan Rickelton (31 off 23). Despite Pat Cummins’ double strike removing Jacks (36 off 26) and Suryakumar Yadav (26 off 15) in quick succession, the chase was very much on track. Hardik Pandya’s 21 off 9 looked to finish things off quietly, but some late drama saw two wickets fall when scores were level.
Eventually, Tilak Varma played a reverse-sweep off the first ball of the 19th over to seal the win, finishing unbeaten on 21. For SRH, this was their fifth defeat in seven matches and third straight loss on the road.
